Harai qualified from Manchester University in 1983 working as a dental surgeon in Leicester where he has owned two dental practices for over 30 years.

Harai has been a Dental Foundation Trainer for over 20 years training new graduate dentists; held a Clinical Lecturer post at Birmingham University for 3 years and has been an elected Local Dental Committee member for over 12 years. He has been selected on the NHS England Performance Advisory Group and the Performers List Decision Panel.

Outside dentistry, Harai loves spending quality time with his family and enjoys golf, walking and holiday abroad. He is also an elected Trustee member of a local charitable religious organisation.
