Our Team

A full range of NHS and private treatment is provided including cosmetic dentistry, orthodontic and surgical dentistry. Two medical students, training to become Maxillo-facial surgeons, attend the practice on a sessional basis providing comprehensive surgical treatment and accept referral from local practices.

Our team are committed to quality assurance and were very proud in receiving the Investor In People plaque from Ms Patricia Hewitt, Minister for Trade, August 2000.

Dr Harai Virdee BDS (1983); MFGDP RCS (1995)

Harai qualified in 1983 from University of Manchester, was awarded two prizes for outstanding achievements in Restorative Dentistry and Alpha Omega for clinical excellence. He is committed to continual professional development, having involvement as a vocational Dental Trainer for several years and mentor to newly trained dentists.

Harai has developed a special interest in restorative dentistry and orthodontic, having completed a two years training module in 2001 under the guidance of highly respected consultant orthodontists Johnathan Sandler and Alison Murray.

Dental Art and Homefarm Dental practices, which he owns, have been awarded the Investor in People standard. It was indeed a very proud moment to receive the plaque awarded by Ms Patricia Hewitt, Minister for Trade in August 2000.

Dr Kam Kalsi BDS (Hons) (1999)
Graduated from the University of Manchester in 1999, was awarded the Hans Kurur Prize for excellence in restorative dentistry.

He has also been involved in clinical research being successful in publishing his findings in the Journal of Dental Materials (2000) in relation to toothwear and dentine bonding agents.

Following on from his academic achievements Kam is committed to continuing professional development. He regularly attends dental courses and East Midlands branch BDA meetings.

Kam has worked in general dental practice since completing his vocational training in Leicester. He has recently joined Dental Art and Homefarm Dental Practice since December 2005. Since joining the practice, Kam has become an approved vocational dental trainer. He has also actively involved in practice management and team training. He is a qualified NVQ Dental Nurse Assessor.

Kam enjoys the challenges of general dental practice, with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and advanced restorative dentistry which he finds most rewarding.

ORAL SURGEONS

Dr Abdul Ahmed BDS (1999); MBchB (2006); MFDS RCSEng(2002)
Awarded honours in Paediatrics by Birmingham Medical School

Abdul graduated from Liverpool University in dentistry (1999), was awarded the prize for outstanding achievement in orthodontics and started his professional career as a general professional trainee GPT.

From August 2001, Abdul became a SHO in oral maxillofacial surgery on a rotation involving University Hospital Coventry&Warwichshire, South Warwick Hospital and George Eliot Hospital Nuneaton.

Continuing professional development is very important to him and during the last two years he has attended numerous courses, surgical training days, clinical audit and case presentations culminating in obtaining his full membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has recently been awarded honours in Paediatrics by Birmingham Medical School.

Abdul routinely works in the Oral surgery Dept at Birmingham University Dental hospital. He is also employed by Walsgrave hospital for evening shifts in Maxillofacial Surgery and ENT.
